On November 29, and on November 30, the first edition of Re-Barcelona Sustainable Fashion Global Event will take place at Disseny Hub, in Barcelona, Spain. The event is a global gathering in which sustainability in the fashion industry will be the main theme. Experts from companies and institutions such as Veja, Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Kering, among others, will participate in the event, which will turn the city of Barcelona into the international epicentre of sustainable fashion.

Re-Barcelona will count with a space designed for industry professionals, the Summit, the 29th , and another for the society, the Open Space, the 29th and 30th. Conceived as a discussion forum, it will bring together the latest innovations and will listen to the industry leaders, who go for the creation, production, sale and use of sustainable fashion.

The first day of the event will kick off with the Summit –November 29–, which will become the place to explore new sustainable and ethical fashion initiatives. With more than 20 speakers, and under the title Sustainable Fashion and Beyond, the Summit will include keynotes, roundtables, talks and reflective conversations with international and national experts from the fashion industry. Titled Conscious Space Beyond, it will count with an exhibition zone with the participation of companies and pioneer projects. There will be specialist film screenings, workshops and masterclasses about sustainability in fashion so that citizens can rethink the fashion industry of today. The Open Space wants the consumer to become aware of the possibility of changing his/her consumption habits into fashion-conscious choices and to discover that a more sustainable fashion industry is possible.

The Open Space counts with the participation of companies and organizations such as Reimagine Textile of TecnoCampus, Barcelona Centre de Disseny or MODA-FAD. Reimagine Textile of TecnoCampus will bring innovative startups and Barcelona Centre de Disseny will promote the HULA HOOP: the experience in circular design, a space where you can develop environmental awareness and increase knowledge regarding materials recycling strategies and regeneration of resources. MODA-FAD will celebrate an upcycling fashion marathon named “MODA-FAD Sustainable Challenge 2019”, in which 30 students of different design disciplines will use their creativity to transform textile waste into new products.

Re-Barcelona is the first global gathering of sustainable and ethical fashion in southern Europe. It is intended to become an annual event focused on sustainable fashion and also an international reference. Its mission is to make a positive impact on the fashion industry and on society, and one of its main goals is to create a permanent think thank on sustainable and ethical fashion.
